Jetstar Update

Dear Trade Partners,

We’re thrilled to see borders around the country starting to open, with Queensland welcoming travellers from all but Victoria from 10 July. Our research shows there is a lot of pent up demand for Australians to take a holiday and visit friends and family and we hope that presents some good selling opportunities for you.

Jetstar flights between South Australia to Queensland and flights between New South Wales and Queensland have seen a strong increase in demand, with more than 25,000 fares sold during our most recent sale.

Most popular routes were Sydney to Gold Coast, Brisbane to Sydney and Cairns to Sydney, with more than 2,000 bookings taken for these services on the day of the announcement.

With the easing of border restrictions we will gradually start to fly more. Our network team are constantly reviewing our network and demand to carefully plan capacity.

Update on Jetstar’s international services

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, we have cancelled our international flights until 25 October 2020, with the exception of services between Australia and New Zealand, flights to Cook Islands (Rarotonga) and Fiji.

Because the situation is constantly evolving and may change rapidly, at this stage, we have not made a decision to cancel international flights after 25 October 2020. Our network is reviewed on an ongoing basis and decisions to cancel flights for future travel dates are made in stages, in response to various factors impacting travel.

This means that customers who have booked a flight in late 2020 or 2021 may not know the status of their flight until closer to their travel dates. We know this is frustrating, however, we don’t want to cancel flights that we may be able to operate.

Interim changes to meal and drink services

We have suspended meal and drink sales onboard for the time being. A limited selection of drink and snack deals are available for pre-purchased up to 24 hours before departure through Manage My Booking on Jetstar.com. Customers can also choose to bring their own drinks and snacks onboard as long as they fit within the carry-on baggage allowance. Hot drinks and alcohol are not permitted to be brought onboard.

Changes to Jetstar’s trade support

Many Jetstar departments are working with a reduced workforce at the moment, including our Industry Support team. Until further notice our industry support team are only available on the Live Chat function or Sales@Jetstar.com.

Brand change and streamlining functions for Jetstar Pacific

Vietnam Airlines (VNA) and Qantas have agreed to introduce changes to Jetstar Pacific which will leverage the scale and brand strength of the majority shareholder, VNA, in its home market. These changes aim to improve the profitability of the low-cost carrier in response to the impact of COVID-19. Pending government and regulatory approval, the low-cost carrier will return to its original brand name, Pacific Airlines. The airline will also change its reservation system from Navitaire to Sabre, to allow the low-cost carrier to streamline its bookings, network and customer functions with Vietnam Airlines. Jetstar looks forward to welcoming you and your passengers onboard soon

Best regards,
The Jetstar Sales Team
