New Jetstar Aircraft Delivery - A321LR (NEO)

The first of Jetstar Airways’ (JQ) 18 long-range NEO aircraft is due to arrive soon.

‘NEO’ stands for ‘new engine option’ – referring to the quieter, more fuel-efficient engines developed for the aircraft. Qantas Group - net zero carbon emissions

https://www.jetstar.com/nz/en/about-us/community-and-environment/carbon-offset

Last month marked an important step in the Qantas Groups journey to net zero carbon emissions by 2050, with the launch of the Qantas Group Climate Action Plan and our interim target to reduce carbon emissions by 25 per cent by 2030. We were just the second airline group in the world to commit to net zero emissions in 2019 and together we have already made progress. The action plan and new sustainability targets will accelerate that progress and give us all a clear roadmap toward our goals.

Our Targets –

  • 10 per cent use of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) by 2030 and approximately 60 per cent by 2050, through more partnerships like the ones we announced in London and Los Angeles. (SAF can be made from crops or byproducts like used cooking oil, and can cut emissions by 80 per cent compared with traditional jet fuel.)
  • Zero single-use plastics by 2027, building on the more than 80 million plastic items we’ve already taken out of service, and zero general waste to landfill by 2030;
  • Improving fuel efficiency by an average of 1.5 per cent per year to 2030, with more efficient aircraft and better flight planning; and
  • Continuing to build our offsetting program, with a focus on investing in more Indigenous and Australian projects.

The Qantas Group have also signed a Memorandum of Understanding with ANZ and Inpex to investigate a reforestation and carbon farming project in Western Australia’s wheatbelt region that would regenerate degraded farmland and ultimately provide a potential SAF feedstock.

Aviation is critical, and so is reducing emissions. A plan to decarbonise our business is central to the future of the Qantas Group, and to making sure future generations can enjoy travel the same way we have.

Destination Phuket.

The tropical beach getaway of your dreams

Phuket’s reputation as Thailand’s premier leisure playground is well founded. Distinguished by lush, jungle-clad mountains, gorgeous beaches and turquoise waters, the island’s geographical wonders are backdrops to a world-famous pleasure zone.

Most holidaymakers head to the west coast for the photogenic and super-popular beaches of Patong, Surin, Kamala, Kata and Karong. Further north is Bang Tao beach, the stunning setting for the Laguna Phuket complex. This cluster of resorts, restaurants and leisure attractions is ideal for families and travellers who like everything at their fingertips. For a more laid-back destination with an authentic local vibe, venture south to Cape Panwa.

Old Phuket Town, with its beautiful heritage architecture, vibrant Thai-Chinese-Indian-Malay population and flourishing dining scene, is a pleasant cultural diversion from the sand and sea. And of course, no trip to Phuket is complete without an excursion to the spectacular Phang Nga Bay, with dramatic limestone outcrops and aquamarine waters that will send your Instagram followers into a frenzy.
